We were tired after three days of nonstop walking. Thus, we were late prepping up on our last "gala" day. We woke up 8AM. An hour late for our itinerary. Nevertheless, we were giddy for a day in Mainland China.
09:00 – Went to East Tsim Sha Tsui and rode to Lo Wu (border of HK and Mainland China)
(If you are a holder of a Pilipinas passport, click here for the requirements of Chinese Visa.)
Funny thing. When we were at the Lo Wu border, I lost my companions. I know nothing in China! And I don't know any Chinese! I don't even have a map! I was panicky, furiously trying to come up with a way how to contact them. The thing is, I was the only one with a mobile phone. And I was walking back and forth trying to get a glimpse of them. When I finally saw them, I was near hysteria. Haha. Okay okay, so maybe I do exaggerate things a bit. So, there I was, ratatatat, rambling on how I would be one sobbing pig if ever I do lost them. And a Filipino came up to ask us directions on how to go to the airport. Our boisterous Tagalog noise was enough to invite all Filipinos around us.
Then we rode a bus going to Windows of the World. We tried, every way possible, for them to understand English, but to no avail. "Shi Jie Zhi Chuang," Rhoda said in Chinese. And it brought fits of giggles from Chabs and me. Chabs even has a translated, "How much?" in Chinese. But we were answered in Chinese, and could not understand a thing!

It's so pretty |
United States of America
When we went out after buying trinkets for souvenirs, we saw that the World was transformed into a stage. And a performance was on-going. I remember Quasimodo, Cinderella, and the likes, were among the plays shown. We were left with our Oohs and Aahs.
After shopping a bit for food in a convenience store, we tried to get the ticket for the subway. But lo and behold! The screen was prompting us in Chinese! We were giggling, and have no clue as to how the thing works. A kid, not more than 10 years of age, was beside our screen, and pointed at a text box (I think it was the one in bottom-leftmost). Ta-da! English folks. English. We clicked our destination (Lo Wu terminal), and inserted our crispy CNYs. And we were in for a shock when the ticket just rolled off the machine!
Oh. It's like tokens. How silly!
We were still giggling inside the train, and I kept inspecting my ticket. Awed at its style. When suddenly, it rolled off my finger. Gasp! I was wide-eyed, looking at my ticket rolling towards a group of people's feet. And we were pretty much expecting I had to excuse myself between throngs of feet just to get the damn thing. Good thing it stopped near the exit, where no one was standing. Several Chinese men, women, and children were ogling at us. Pretty impressed at how anyone could be so naive. Hahaha.
We saw Ate Hope, a Filipina whose companion was detained by the Chinese Immigration. She asked us for directions since it was only her second time in Hong Kong. Chabs, being the boss that she is, taught her the ropes. She's the Lord of the Subway. :D
