PowerUp Centro Atletico is located at 25 West Road cor North Road Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. From the south of EDSA, take the U-turn at Cubao. Turn towards the first street (North Road) on the right. Follow the main street and at its end you will find a huge parking lot and Hataw Isports Inc.
To begin with, I was introduced to the people of PowerUp Centro. Frank was one of them. He was a Bisaya, too, who taught me the ropes. Teehee. I had a Belayer's Card from PowerUp TS, way back 2008. And the last time I took up wall climbing (June of last year), I did not belay. So, needless to say, I was quite rusty with my belaying skills.
I also tried to boulder, and guess what? After two (2) hand holds, I lost grip. Haha. I need to work on my upper body strength. (I will have to ask Pilo for the pictures, evidence of my puny strength.)
Another highlight of the night was when Jen, Bevs, and Frank climbed with blindfolds on. It was an unnecessary task, invented mainly for the thrill of "kapa" (or groping.) Haha. I was told it gives extra pain in the arms since your footholds are not too balanced. I WANT to try this too. Perhaps next time. :)
Wall Fee: Php 170
Rental Fee
Harness: Php 30
Shoes: Php 20
(Or was it the other way around?)
Fee for use of powder room: Php 20
That's a total of PhP 240
I guess after this, I wanted to buy myself climbing shoes. ;)
