Surfing Bagasbas - Surf fest

Hi!
I was in Bagasbas for a day. Not bad considering that for Php 500, I get to get a shirt, slippers, some discount cards, and an hour of surf clinic.

There are other activities as marketed in the poster, but all I got were the ones I mentioned.

And guess what? My instructor told me I was good in surfing. Hooray! That. Was. Euphoric. Teehee..

Anyway, it was a short notice invitation. And thus, we were not prepared. We went to Cubao to get bus tickets the night we were off to Daet. Attempt 1. Fail. Mike was there first. And apparently, there's no trip to Daet that side of town. So off we went to Superlines along EDSA, southbound, just beside Victory Liner.
(Attempt 2) Only to find out, we were out of tickets.

Then we returned at the Central Bus Station just beside Shopwise and Ali Mall. (Attempt 3) Which again ended in epic fail. We then went to Piltranco (Attempt 4), EDSA southbound, just across Farmer's Mall. And we waited. Waited still. Waited a bit more. And hooray! Chance passengers, you can be accommodated.
The trip costs Php 550.

We arrived in Daet 7am the following day. Breakfast at Jollibee. And off we went to Bagasbas! Funny how I thought we need to ride another van going to Bagasbas. We just needed to rent a trike, which is Php 40.

Afterwards, we checked in at Surfer's Dine Inn, where we were billeted our previous stay.
Surfers’ Dine Inn (0916) 4759053
Dorm Bed costs Php 500@.

We played Frisbee for a while. A while - because I was semi conscious after a coupla rounds of tossing and catching. I needed to catch my breath. Haha.

We registered at the booth, for an hour of playing the waves. Heee... It makes me giddy thinking I could paddle and at the same time stand up on the board. ;)

That night was reggae party. I saw some familiar faces, albeit they wouldn't know me. Haha.

The next morning, we went back to Manila. Bus tickets at Superlines were only Php 430. I think this rate was discounted.

Until our next swell fest, folks!

PowerUp Centro

PowerUp Centro Atletico is located at 25 West Road cor North Road Cubao, Quezon City, Philippines. From the south of EDSA, take the U-turn at Cubao. Turn towards the first street (North Road) on the right. Follow the main street and at its end you will find a huge parking lot and Hataw Isports Inc.

To begin with, I was introduced to the people of PowerUp Centro. Frank was one of them. He was a Bisaya, too, who taught me the ropes. Teehee. I had a Belayer's Card from PowerUp TS, way back 2008. And the last time I took up wall climbing (June of last year), I did not belay. So, needless to say, I was quite rusty with my belaying skills.

To a friend

I think it's long overdue we should talk. It is the mature thing for me to do but there's still that kid part in me which shies away from serious conversations or confrontations. It's not callousness that makes me shut away, it's immaturity. And it' imperative for me to salvage what little of relationships i have, friendships most especially.

Summer School

Summer equals fish. Schools of fish.

It is my third time to try scuba diving.. And what better to start it with than by being KIA. That's - Know It All. Haha. If you've been reading my blog, I've mentioned in a nota bene what scuba meant.
On a Friday, we left Manila for Miss Macky's place in Batangas. (Jr drove us to and fro Batangas. Not an easy feat, and one we are all grateful for.) Ms Macky was generous enough to open her home to us, overnighters. We are couch surfers like that. We met her darling kids, Mike, Drew, and the little girl. And her jowa. Thank you Miss Macky for the stories, the booze, the roof, and the sheets.

Oh-woo-oh it's all about the Chemistry

It's really something to see love emanating from the smiles of two people.

Dale and Aya

Two college classmates (Chemical Engineers) tied the knot at Tagaytay's Lourdes Church last April 14. I've known the groom since high school, and the bride, during college.

The couple invited us to the wedding last year. And since it was in Tagaytay, on a Saturday, I instantly RSVP'd. Yes, I'm coming.

Thesis

It's official! I passed all my core courses in my Masteral. Now, one thing to consider is how to start my thesis. Dear Lord help me.

foolhardy

Brash and borderline reckless.

Those words pretty much describe how I am. Overbold and audacious. At times, I think, I am the daredevil himself. Nah. There I go again, over exploiting the words I know, being extravagant in self grace. Haha. I'm kidding.

Nonetheless, I've read this passage somewhere, and it stuck:
I'll do EVERYTHING once. Twice if I like it. Three times just to make sure.

Cliff diving, I done it 5 times. In varying levels of difficulty, or should I say, height.

April 7 2012 was a Saturday. And it was high time to high dive.

We have reserved our slots in Boracay Beach Club (err Ariel's House) a day earlier. And at 11:30 AM, we were off to Obama, registered and signed the waiver, and waited for the boat ride to Buruanga.

Preps

Dearly beloved readers,

I write today after an 8 hour trip from Caticlan to Batangas, and another 2 hour drive to Manila.

Hehe. Formalities aside, I and  4 other friends/acquaintances went to Boracay for the Holy Week. Since it was my fourth time visiting the place, I basically wanted to cliff dive. But since we were late in deciding whether to push through or not, the airfare hiked up to about 9,000++ Php one way. We have other options such as driving via the RORO (roll-on-roll-off) and the 2Go 8-hour ferry trip. I was adamant on the ferry considering I can get very seasick. However, since we were sailing night time, I gather it won't be as bad.
