Phantom of the Opera

Fantastic would be an understatement.

I did not know such theatrical magnificence was probable. Jaw-dropping and worthy of a standing ovation.

The Phantom of the Opera in Manila was astounding as compared to anything and nothing. Sorry if I may sound too precocious for words. The play left me awestruck. Plain and simple.

Prior to this one, I've already watched several productions at CCP.
Stomp, for example. And I saw our company's founders' history called Dauntless, as well as the Jose Rizal play in Meralco Theater. Then there's Flow, which I watched at PAGCOR. These plays did nothing to prepare me for the impressive theatrical ability that Andrew Lloyd Webber orchestrated. Ok, well known it was not explicitly him who organized Manila's production. Just the same, I wanted to thank him for the grandiose that is Phantom of the Opera.
Grow old with me
I especially loved the effects. There were scenes when Erik (the Phantom) and Christine had to cross a river when the former kidnapped the latter. I was dumbfounded at how dry ice was manipulated to create that misty effect during the wee hours of the morning on a river. I wouldn't know personally, but that's what comes to mind, being a simpleton that I am. Hahaha. And the transition from one scene to another. It was perfectly done, I had to hold my jaw to prevent it from dropping. Not to mention, when a character reads a note from the Phantom, how the voices transcends throughout the auditorium, well, leaves me totally speechless.

I gasped when Christine's fear sent Raoul to ward off Erik. Felt tears on my cheeks when the famous All I ask From You was sang. It elicits feelings from me that I thought I will never feel for an Opera. *Sighs*

Beautiful voices. Perfect production. The Phantom of the Opera probably would rank as my #1 Favorite Play of all time.
